Futuro Tarot

Design

The Magician performs the three cups trick on the street, trying to scam passersby; the Pope preaches to his followers through a kind of giant screen; the Lovers kiss in an industrial setting, while the Chariot is a powerful-looking sedan. The tarot cards drawn by Igor Kubik in black and white for his project „Futuro Tarot” are contemporary, depicting scenes from modern life. The style, however, is inspired by the artistic avant-garde of the early 20th century, evoking the atmosphere of Fritz Lang’s „Metropolis” and featuring a line reminiscent of the Flemish painter and illustrator Frans Masereel.

„How the Camel Got His Hump” from Just So Stories tells the humorous story of how the lazy Camel gained his hump. In the beginning we observe the creation of the world – human and the animals.
